To encourage more young skilled women to be enrolled in the media to work for the development of rural communities.A total of 35 young women from Dalits and unprivileged community in 16 community Radio Stations were awarded for 3rd batch fellowship program starting from March 2015.

Activity

The fellows prepare and produce news/reports/feature/case study/human profile. They broadcast these reports and features through radio and publish in local newspapers.

Fellowship 9th Batch

In the 9th batch of fellowship 19 Community media fellows were selected from 12 community radio station broadcasting area in 11 districts of the country. The districts covered under the , project were – Rajshahi, Shatkira,  Chattogram, Chapai Nowabgonj, Bogra, Kurigram, Khulna, Munsigonj, Naogaon, Bhola, and Gaibandha.

They are doing the following:

  • Build skill on radio literacy.
  • Prepare/produce 10 news bulletin/case study/life sketch in total period (1 per week)
  • Publish ten article/interview /feature/spot report (with supporting photographs) in local newspaper, national Newspaper and online news portal in total period.
  • The fellows are involved to inspire the marginalized people to get the available Govt. service and supports by lobbying with local Govt. and administration and the public representative.

Fellowship 8th Batch

In the 8th batch of fellowship 23 Community media fellows were selected from 14 community radio station broadcasting area in 14 districts of the country. The districts covered under the , project were – Rajshahi, Shatkira, Borguna, Chattogram, Chapai Nowabgonj, Bogra, Kurigram, Jhegnaidha, Khulna, Munsigonj, Naogaon, Bhola, Noakhali and Gaibandha.

They are doing the following:

  • Prepare/produce 04 news bulletin/case study/life sketch in a month (1 per week)
  • Publish four article/interview /feature/spot report (with supporting photographs) in local newspaper, national Newspaper and online news portal.
  • The fellows are involved to inspire the marginalized people to get the available Govt. service and supports by lobbying with local Govt. and  administration and public representative.

Fellowship 7th Batch

The duration of 7th batch of fellowship was 1st October to 31st December 2017. The dalit youth and youth women fellows, aged between 16 and 28

They are doing the following:

  • Prepare/produce 04 news bulletin/case study/life sketch in a month (1 per week)
  • Publish one article/interview /feature/spot report (with supporting photographs) in local newspaper(1 per month)
  • The fellows are involved to inspire the marginalized people to get the available Govt. service and supports by lobbying with local Govt. and  administration and public representative.

Fellowship 6th Batch

In the 6th batch of fellowship 18 Community media fellows were selected from 11 community radio station broadcasting area in 11 districts of the country. The districts covered under the , project were – Rajshahi, Borguna, Moulvibazar, Bogra, Chapai Nowabgonj, Kurigram, Khulna, Munsiganj, Naogaon, Bhola and Gaibandha

The duration of 6th batch of fellowship was 1st June to 31 August 2017. The dalit youth and youth women fellows, aged between 16 and 28

They will do the following:

  • Prepare/produce 04 news bulletin/case study/life sketch in a month (1 per week)
  • Publish one article/interview /feature/spot report (with supporting photographs) in local newspaper(1 per month)
  • The fellows will involve to inspire the marginalized people to get the available Govt. service and supports by lobbying with local Govt. and  administration and public representative.

Fellowship 5th Batch

In the 5th batch of fellowship 16 Community media fellows were selected from 9 community radio station broadcasting area in 8 districts of the country. The districts covered under the , project were – Rajshahi, Borguna, Chapai Nowabgonj, Kurigram, Jhenaidah, Munsiganj, Noakhali and Gaibandha

The duration of 5th batch of fellowship was 1st October to 31 December 2016. The dalit youth women fellows, aged between 18 and 30, prior to joining their responsibilities in community radio broadcasting programmes and feature writing in local newspapers, were exposed to customised media training to strengthen understanding on reporting, news and script writing and editing .Later they have started reporting and producing programs and articles under the supervision of mentor. They have done the following:

  • Prepare/produce 04 news bulletin/case study/life sketch in a month (1 per week)
  • Publish one article/interview /feature/spot report (with supporting photographs) in local newspaper(1 per month)
  • They (16 fellows of 5th batch) broadcasted altogether 192 audio programs and prepared around 48 reports for local newspaper within 3 months duration of the fellowship.
  • In pursuit of their fellowship program the youth women largely focused on messages to free the society from the traditional caste system, good practices in health for women and children, end early marriages, social discrimination, violence against women, promote education, establish human rights and give more voices to the marginalized people.
  • 10 fellows are continuing with Community Radio stations as assistant news producer and presenter voluntarily.

Fellowship 4th Batch

In the 4th batch of fellowship 12 Community media fellows were selected from 8 community radio station broadcasting area in 8 districts of the country. The districts covered under the , project were –Borguna, Bogra, Chapai Nowabgonj, Jhenaidah, Cox’s bazar , Naogan, Bhola and Gaibandha

The duration of 4th batch of fellowship was 15th July to 14 October 2016. The dalit youth women fellows, aged between 18 and 30, prior to joining their responsibilities in community radio broadcasting programmes and feature writing in local newspapers, were exposed to customised media training to strengthen understanding on reporting, news and script writing and editing .Later they have started reporting and producing programs and articles under the supervision of mentor. They have done the following:

  • Prepare/produce 04 news bulletin/case study/life sketch in a month (1 per week)
  • Publish one article/interview /feature/spot report (with supporting photographs) in local newspaper(1 per month)
  • They (12 fellows of 4th batch) broadcasted altogether 144 audio programs and prepared around 36 reports for local newspaper within 3 months duration of the fellowship.
  • In pursuit of their fellowship program the youth women largely focused on messages to free the society from the traditional caste system, good practices in health for women and children, end early marriages, social discrimination, violence against women, promote education, establish human rights and give more voices to the marginalized people.
  • All of 12 fellows are continuing with Community Radio stations as assistant news producer and presenter voluntarily.

Fellowship 3rd Batch

In the 3rd batch of Fellowship 35 Community media fellows were selected from 15 community radio stations broadcasting area in 16 districts of the country. The districts covered under the , project were –Rajshahi ,Satkhira, Borguna, Chittagong, Bogra, Chapai Nowabgonj, Kurigram, Jhenaidah, Cox’s bazar , Khulna, Munshigonj, Naogan, Bhola and Nowakhali.

It was started on 1st March and continued till 30 June 2015. During this 4-month fellowship program the fellows received day long orientation workshop at Station level. Later they have started reporting and producing programs and articles under the supervision of mentor. They have done the following:

  • Prepare/produce 04 news bulletin/case study/life sketch in a month (1 per week)
  • Publish one article/interview /feature/spot report (with supporting photographs) in local newspaper(1 per month)
  • They (35 fellows of 3rd batch) broadcasted altogether 560 audio programs and written around 140 reports for local newspaper within 4-month duration of the fellowship.
  • In pursuit of their fellowship program the youth women largely focused on messages to free the society from the traditional caste system, good practices in health for women and children, end early marriages, social discrimination, violence against women, promote education, establish human rights and give more voices to the marginalized people.
  • The youth women fellows form dalit and unprivileged community have earned prestige and recognition in the rural community through this program.

Fellowship 2nd Batch

In the second batch of Fellowship 11 Community media fellows were selected from 09 districts of the country. The districts covered under the project were – Rajshahi, Satkhira, Barguna, Chapai Nawabgonj, Kurigram, Jhenidah, Khulna, Cox’s bazar, Naogaon.

It was started on 1st July To continued till 31st December2014. During this 6-month fellowship program the fellows received 3-day long orientation workshop in Dhaka. Later they have started reporting and producing programs and articles under the supervision of mentor. They have done the following:

  • Prepare/produce 04 news bulletin/case study/life sketch in a month (1 per week)
  • Publish one article/interview /feature/spot report (with supporting photographs) in local newspaper(1 per month)
  • They (11 fellows of 2nd batch) broadcasted altogether 264 audio programs and prepared 66 reports for local newspaper within 6 months duration of the fellowship.
  • They covered the issues like education of women and children, their access, female empowerment, health, child marriage, reproductive health, ethnic and dalits news and some success story. These reflected the present situation of the disadvantaged community, especially present lives of rural women and children.
  • Through this program the fellows have developed their personal and professional skills. They are now able to collect information, take vox-pop and interview, computer compose, write and edit script, News & Program presentation, program production, handle recorder, camera and mixer machine etc.

Fellowship 1st Batch

In the first batch of Fellowship 12 Community media fellows were selected from 11 districts of the country. The districts covered under the project were – Rajshahi, Satkhira, Barguna, Chittagong, Chapai Nawabgonj, Kurigram, Jhenidah, Khulna, Cox’s bazar, Munshiganj and Naogaon. It was started on 24 December 2013 and continued till 23 March 2014. During this 3-month fellowship program the fellows received training. Later they have started reporting and producing programs and articles under the supervision of mentor. They have done the following:

  • Prepare/produce 04 news bulletin/case study/life sketch in a month (1 per week)
  • Publish one article/interview /feature/spot report (with supporting photographs) in local newspaper(1 per month)
  • They (12 fellows of 1st batch) broadcasted altogether 144 audio programs and prepared 36 reports for local newspaper must of the reports were published.
  • Those reports reflected the problems and everyday life of women children and disadvantage group and brought to the attention of authorities and communities.
  • Through this program the fellows have developed their personal and professional skills. They are now able to collect information, take vox-pop and interview, computer compose, write and edit script, News & Program presentation, program production, handle recorder, camera and mixer machine etc.
  • The reports of the fellows bring many important issues and problems to light, acts as inspiration and empowerment and finally helps change and challenge social taboos and patterns that prevent women from flourishing and actively contributing to the overall development of their community, their village and the country.
  • During fellowship I made reports on women and children being affected by drinking water and sanitation problems, wage discrimination of women workers, education system of the Munda (an ethnic community) community, the poor condition of the river Kopotakkho, and forest children. The reports, when broadcast on radio, created a stir among listeners. People from remote areas came to the radio station just to meet me.’ –Anamika Dhanuki, fellow, Radio Sunderban.
  • ‘I was born and brought up in a family plagued with religious bigotry and superstitions. No women before me here had stepped out of the house, let alone have a job. Coming back from that family, I am a journalist today; it’s like a dream.-Shahrina Sultana Jui, fellow, Borendro Radio
  • “Change will only happen when women come forward, speak up and acquire and disseminate knowledge”, says the 26-year old Nusrat from Radio Lokobetar.
  • “For the women in my village, I am the voice of their sorrow and their happiness, I have forever changed my life perspective and hope to change theirs as well”, adds the 24-year old Sanjita from Radio Bikrampur.
